Overview

Baby Daily is built local-first, by design: everything you log stays on your device. We don't operate a server, we don't collect analytics, and we don't show ads. This policy explains, in plain terms, what information the App handles and how.

Information You Enter

When you use the App, you may choose to enter: • A child's name, birth date, and sex (sex is optional) • A profile photo for your child (optional) • Feeding, sleep, diaper, growth, health, milestone, and journal entries • Appointments and reminders you set • Notes you add to any of the above All of this is entered voluntarily by you and stored only in a local database inside the App's private storage on your device — it is not visible to other apps, and it is not sent anywhere.

Information We Don't Collect

We don't collect your name, email address, or any account information — the App doesn't have accounts. We don't use advertising identifiers, analytics SDKs, or crash-reporting services that transmit data off your device. We don't track your location. We don't use cookies (there's no web component to the App).

How Your Information Is Used

Your information is used exclusively to power the App's own features on your device — showing your child's timeline, stats, growth charts, and reminders. It is never used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond displaying it back to you within the App.

Notifications

If you enable reminders or appointment alerts, the App uses your device's local notification system to show them. This requires notification permission, which you can grant or deny; it's used only for the reminders and appointments you set up yourself.

App Lock (PIN and Biometric)

If you turn on the optional App Lock, you'll set a PIN. That PIN is never stored in plain text — it's cryptographically hashed (PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256) and the hash is stored locally on your device. If you enable fingerprint or face unlock, that authentication is handled entirely by your device's operating system; the App never receives, sees, or stores your actual biometric data — it only receives a yes/no result from the OS.

Backups & Syncing Between Devices

The App lets you export an encrypted backup of your data whenever you choose, and lets two phones exchange updates directly with each other — either by sharing that same encrypted export file through your device's own share sheet (Bluetooth, a messaging app, email, your own cloud storage, etc.), or, when both phones are on the same Wi-Fi network, directly over your local network (see "Same-Wi-Fi Device Sync" below). Backups are encrypted on your device (AES-256-GCM) using a passphrase you set — that passphrase is never transmitted, and never stored by the App. Where you save or send the resulting encrypted file is entirely your choice; the App itself does not upload your backup anywhere. Merging updates from another device only adds or updates matching entries — it never deletes anything already on your device. Because we never see your passphrase, we cannot help recover a backup if the passphrase is lost.

Same-Wi-Fi Device Sync

If you use the App's Wi-Fi sync option, your phone announces its presence — using your device's own name, e.g. "Sarah's Galaxy A52s" — to other devices on the same Wi-Fi network, using standard local network discovery (mDNS/Bonjour). This does not involve the internet or any server, and nothing is announced to devices outside your local network. When you choose a specific nearby device to sync with, your data is sent directly to that device over your local network, encrypted with a one-time key generated fresh for that connection and never reused or stored. We never see this data. Closing the Wi-Fi sync screen stops your phone from being discoverable.

Photos

If you add a profile photo, it's copied into the App's private local storage and displayed only within the App. Photos are also included in backups and device sync described above, so restoring or merging a backup restores photos along with your other data.

Payments (Pro)

If you purchase Pro, that transaction is handled entirely by Google Play (or Apple's App Store, where applicable) — we never receive your card number or other payment details. The store tells the App only whether you're entitled to Pro, which the App uses to unlock those features. Beyond confirming your purchase, we don't learn your name, email, or any other personal detail through this process.

Third Parties

We do not share, sell, rent, or otherwise disclose your information to any third party, because we never receive it in the first place — it stays on your device. The one exception is the Pro purchase flow, handled by Google Play or Apple's App Store as described under "Payments" above — and even then, only your purchase status is involved, never your baby-tracking data.

Children's Privacy

Baby Daily is intended for use by parents, legal guardians, and caregivers to record information about a child in their care. It is not directed at, marketed to, or intended for use directly by children. The App does not knowingly collect information from children interacting with the App themselves.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your data remains on your device for as long as you keep the App installed. You can delete individual entries or an entire baby profile at any time within the App. Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all locally stored data, including baby photos, unless you've exported a backup beforehand — there is no server copy to fall back on.

Your Control Over Your Data

Because everything is local, you're already in full control: there's no account to close and no server-side copy to request or delete. You can export a complete backup of your data at any time from Settings → Backup & Restore.

International Data Transfers

None. Since your information never leaves your device, no cross-border data transfer occurs as a result of using the App.

Security

Local data lives in the App's private, sandboxed app storage, which other apps cannot access on a non-rooted/non-jailbroken device. The database itself is not encrypted on disk — decompiling the App doesn't hand anyone your data, since that only exposes the App's code, not a copy of your device's private storage, but someone with root access to your specific device could read it directly. We disable Android's own automatic cloud backup for the App, so the encrypted export or device sync you control is the only way your data ever leaves your device. Exported backups and file-based sync use AES-256-GCM; Wi-Fi device sync uses a fresh one-time key per connection. No security measure is perfect, and you're responsible for the physical and digital security of your own device and any backup files you create.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
